1) A plant would be getting bigger and adding biomass mainly using photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Cellular respiration and mainly how the plants gain energy is by gathering nutrients and converting it into ATP. ATP can then be converted into sugars for energy and growth among the organism with the use of mitosis which is when the cells divide. 2) If the plant needs an enzyme in which are in the protein category, the proteins contain nuclear export signals which are recognized by receptors that guide RNA out of the nucleus.

The Story of The Seed is an inspiring project where students acquire the knowledge and understanding of a seed's growth. This project was designed to connect, and grasp the simple knowledge of a seeds life throughout the 8 units of Mr. Bursch's life science class at Willow Glen High School. Each group receives seeds of the Brassica oleracea category (brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, etc.). We start this yearlong experiment by planting our seeds in the main garden and waiting for germination. As the process begins the students observe and monitor their young plants for growth and development. Soon after, that will follow through to observing the flowers and fruits of their plants. Throughout this project, we will present our predictions, hypotheses, and independent research. We will as well collect and analyze data by taking precise measurements and pictures, which of all will be shown in this blog!

Blog post #3
During the week 3 of our plants growing there is little to no growth in our plants. It looks like a patch of grass. Our plants participate in the water cycle by turning the water into energy that helps who ever consumes it. Our plants contribute to the carbon cycle by providing us humans air.Our plants provide nitrogen by putting it into the ground providing energy.

There are three main abiotic factors that effect my plant. The first abiotic factors are water. Water is very important to a plants life since without it, it cannot grow. The second abiotic factor is sunlight, sunlight is the main component to a plants growth. The plant uses photosynthesis in order to convert sunlight in to glucose or sugar. The third abiotic factor is soil. soil contains nutrients, minerals, and provides a space for the plants' roots. The main biotic factor to my plant is competition with other plants such as grass, the other broccoli type plants, and weeds. this effects them because they may gain height advantage over my plant, causing them not to get as much sunlight. In order to infer which plant is "winning" or which plant is "losing" than you would mainly just have to figure out if it is growing and if other plants are growing faster. A plant may be getting just enough sunlight to live and not grow too much. Other bugs or critters may attempt monching on the plant which would cause it to lose mass. Secondary succession is taking place in the garden and one example is that before we planted the seeds, the garden was mainly just dirt and wood chips. Now that we have planted the seeds, there is more growth such as grass, weeds, and the plants we grew.

My Seed Life
My name is Marshall Wittenberg. Previously, i lived in south central San Jose and then at the age of seven i moved to south San Jose, California. A couple months ago my parents planted some tomato seeds in the backyard. It took a few weeks for them to grow fully but then the plant grew really big and we had to trim it. Lily from my 9th grade science class has experience with a grape plant in which she used to go back there and just eat the grapes after, she would also have a "cooking show" with her grandma because her mom grew greens.

The Seed Passed Down
My name is Daniel Martinez. I was born and raised in San Jose, California. I have helped my grandfather grow a lemon tree. It was the first tree i have ever grown and taken care of, i still care for it to this day. I remember picking the first lemon from the tree and squeezing it in my mouth, it was the most sour taste of victory. My grandparents learned about gardening for food purposes and spices. They later taught me.
Not Much Experience
My name is Tomas Contreras. I'm originally I lived in Santa Clara, California. I moved to San Jose at the age of 11 with my mom, dad, 3 sisters and my grandma.I haven't really ever garden but my aunt knows how to and also knows how to take care of plants. I really don't know how to cook but my mom and sister love to cook. She doesn't grow any of the ingredients she needs tho. I want to learn to grow plants so i can grow my mom plants to she can cook with them.
